Allergy & Food Safety Notice

At More Than Sushi, we take food safety and allergen information seriously.

Please read this notice before placing an order, especially if you have a food allergy, intolerance or special dietary requirement.

1. Important allergy notice

If you have a food allergy, intolerance or special dietary requirement, please contact us before placing your order.

Please do not rely only on the order notes box for serious allergies. Speak to us directly so we can check your request properly.

2. Allergen information for each dish

By law, we must tell you which of the 14 major allergens are present in each dish. You can get allergen information for any individual menu item in the following ways:

  • on our online menu and product pages, before you complete your order;
  • by phone before ordering, if you are unsure about a specific item;
  • in the shop, by asking a member of staff;
  • on request when your order is collected or delivered.

If you cannot find the allergen information you need, or you want us to double-check an item, please contact us before you place your order and we will confirm it for you.

3. Shared kitchen warning

Our food is prepared in a kitchen that handles many ingredients and allergens.

Although we take care, we cannot guarantee that any item is completely free from traces of allergens because of the risk of cross-contamination.

If we believe we cannot prepare your order safely, we may refuse the order.

4. The 14 major allergens

These are the 14 allergens that must be declared under UK food law. Our kitchen may handle all of them:

  • celery;
  • cereals containing gluten (such as wheat, rye, barley and oats);
  • crustaceans (such as prawns, crab and lobster);
  • eggs;
  • fish;
  • lupin;
  • milk;
  • molluscs (such as mussels and squid);
  • mustard;
  • peanuts;
  • sesame;
  • soya;
  • sulphur dioxide and sulphites;
  • tree nuts (such as almonds, cashews and walnuts).

Some menu items may contain more than one allergen. Ingredients, toppings, sauces and supplier products can change, so please ask us before ordering if you are unsure.

5. Sushi-specific food safety

Some of our menu items may contain raw, cooked, cured or marinated fish and seafood.

Fresh sushi is best eaten as soon as possible after collection or delivery.

Please keep chilled food cold and do not leave sushi at room temperature for long periods.

If you are pregnant, elderly, very young, immunocompromised, or have been advised to avoid raw fish or certain seafood, please take extra care when ordering and seek medical advice if needed.

6. Bones, shells and natural ingredients

Some items may contain natural traces of bone, shell or cartilage.

For example, eel may be deboned but can still occasionally contain small bones.

Please eat carefully and contact us before ordering if you have concerns.

7. Dietary requests

We will always try to help with dietary requests where possible.

However, “vegetarian”, “vegan”, “gluten-free” or similar wording describes the recipe only and does not always mean an item is suitable for someone with a serious allergy.

Because our kitchen handles many allergens, we cannot guarantee a fully allergen-free environment.

8. Order notes

Order notes are useful for simple requests, but they should not be used as the only way to tell us about a serious allergy.

For serious allergies or intolerances, please contact us before placing your order.

9. Delivery and collection

Please check your order carefully when you receive it.

If you told us about an allergy or dietary requirement, please check with us before eating if anything looks wrong or unclear.

Do not eat the food if you believe it may not be suitable for you.
